Students of M.I.T. Group of Institutes, Ujjain emerge winners of Azim Premji University’s National level Social Enterprise Idea challenge for students held recently. In over 200 submissions from across colleges in India, 14 finalists presented their ideas to tackle specific social problems

Jitendra Singh Choudhary from M.I.T. Group of Institutes, Ujjain won the first prize for their idea named “Shuddham”. The idea is proposing to address the crucial issue of water crisis in the world by developing a device which can filter waste water and make it reusable for secondary purposes like washing and cleaning.

The 2nd Prize went to Kongu Engineering College, Erode — The idea is to recycle and reuse construction waste obtained from demolition of old concrete structures  to produce sustainable building materials for the construction industries.

IIT Delhi/ Azim Premji University jointly shared 3rd Prize. The IIT Delhi team presented “Project Titli” which sought to transform the way of imparting awareness on Menstruation with a fun – filled and engaging set of games

Azim Premji University team members were: Sanjeet Prakash Rao and Brihas Tiwari. The Idea “Less is Good: a sustainable alterative to paper and plastic cutlery”  is to develop a sustainable business approach to reduce the usage of plastic, paper and styrofoam cutlery by providing clean steel cutlery to food vendors

The Social Enterprise Cell of APU organizes the Idea Challenge every year with a purpose to provide students of colleges and universities across India an opportunity to explore social entrepreneurship and share their innovative ideas in a rigorous and competitive manner. The event also acts as a great networking platform for young minds to meet each other, exchange thoughts and showcase their talent and skills to some of the early stage mentors and funders.

Recycle for Football Project

More than 200 teams participated and submitted their innovative solution models in the first round. The submissions were broadly in the domains of education, livelihood, health, sustainability and governance. 16 teams were shortlisted for the finale which was evaluated by an eminent panel of Jury members including Vijay Pratap and Suresh Krishna, both very active in the Social Entrepreneurship scenario as mentors and funders.
