New Era Cleantech Solutions Pvt. Ltd. has commenced development of India’s first greenfield Integrated Coal Gasification and Carbon Capture Complex at Bhadrawati in Chandrapur, Maharashtra. Spread across approximately 1,650 acres. The project involves an investment of ₹20,000 crores and will convert domestic coal into critical industrial chemicals and fuels used across sectors such as fertilisers, mining, textiles and packaging.
Once operational, the facility will process more than 5 million metric tonnes of coal annually, producing ammonia, ammonium nitrate and mono ethylene glycol in the first phase, with future expansion into products including DME, urea, sustainable aviation fuel and ethanol. The project was first cleared by the Government of Maharashtra in 2022 and aligns with the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat by strengthening India’s domestic manufacturing ecosystem.
The development assumes added significance at a time when global gas supplies have been disrupted following the conflict involving Iran and constraints around the strategic Strait of Hormuz, through which a large share of global LNG trade passes.
Madhusudan Agrawal, Chairman, New Era Cleantech Solutions Pvt. Ltd states, said, “We believe initiatives like this will play an important role in supporting India’s long-term energy security, industrial growth and transition towards cleaner and more sustainable technologies.”
New Era Cleantech Solutions Pvt. Ltd. focuses on developing advanced coal gasification and coal-to-chemicals infrastructure in India.
