ST Foundation Earns National CSR Recognition

More than 180,000 people trained, 50 Digital Unify Labs established across India, and 19,000 beneficiaries reached in the past year alone. These are the numbers behind ST Foundation's latest recognition at the 7th Bharat CSR & Sustainability Summit and Awards 2026.

The Foundation received the Best CSR Initiative for Digital Equity and Inclusion award in the Corporate Category during the summit organised by The Brainalytics in New Delhi. The recognition highlights the growing role of corporate-led digital inclusion programmes in bridging India’s persistent digital divide.

Implemented in partnership with non-governmental organisations, ST Foundation’s Digital Unify Program has created a network of over 50 digital learning centres across the country. The initiative equips underserved communities with digital literacy and employability skills, enabling access to education, livelihoods and essential online services.

According to the Foundation, the programme has benefited over 180,000 trainees nationwide since its inception. Nearly one in every ten beneficiaries, that is, more than 19,000 people, were trained during the last year, reflecting the programme’s continued expansion.

The programme’s reach extends beyond infrastructure. By working through local NGO partners, the Foundation combines technology, training and community engagement to create learning ecosystems tailored to local needs. This partnership-based approach has allowed the initiative to scale while maintaining accessibility for underserved populations.

Pietro Palella, President of ST Foundation

For Pietro Palella, President of ST Foundation, the recognition validates years of sustained investment in digital empowerment. “This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our volunteers, the strength of our partnerships, and the trust of the communities we serve,” he said. “We are proud that our Digital Unify Program continues to create meaningful opportunities for people to build digital confidence and participate more fully in today’s connected world.”

Established in 2001, ST Foundation serves as the philanthropic arm of STMicroelectronics. Its mission centres on using science and technology to promote social development through education and digital inclusion. Beyond India, the Foundation’s flagship Digital Unify Program currently operates in 15 countries across Europe, Asia, and other regions, demonstrating a scalable model for narrowing the global digital divide.

As digital access increasingly determines opportunities in education, employment and public services, initiatives like Digital Unify illustrate how corporate social responsibility can move beyond philanthropy toward measurable, long-term impact.
