Indian citizens had lost hope in municipalities’ ability to manage rivers and lakes. Filthy lakes and rivers with sewage run in the middle of big cities like Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. Dry lake beds disappear overnight, and massive buildings come up in no time, causing severe floods almost every year.
There is hope. A new state-of-the-art technology offers a rapid and effective solution to revive a 15-acre lake within just 30 days. The solar-powered device called SwanCav employs ultrasonic waves to eliminate algae and transforms toxic nutrient loads into non-toxic forms without the use of any chemicals. Most importantly, it supports aquatic life by significantly enhancing the oxygen content in water, improving it by up to five times.
By restoring the health of water bodies, this innovation can directly uplift livelihoods through improved fisheries, agriculture, and access to cleaner water
SwanCav was designed by Prasinos Tech Innovations, founded by Dr. Aditi Mullick and Dr. Anupam Mukherjee, both PhDs in Chemical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur and BITS Pilani, respectively.
SwanCav, one of their patented products, is an ultrasonic, solar-powered lake-cleaning machine designed and manufactured in-house by Prasinos as the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). The device is available in different models to suit a range of waterbody sizes and can effectively cover areas up to 15 acres.

Speaking to SustainabilityNext, Founder and Managing Director Dr. Aditi Mullick shared that several municipalities have already shown interest in deploying the solution. With no operating cost, minimal maintenance, and rapid scalability through in-house production, SwanCav offers an ideal option for widespread adoption.
Given its simplicity, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact, SwanCav can be readily embraced by local municipalities, communities, and Resident Welfare Associations. If it delivers as promised, it could revolutionise lake restoration. It will eliminate the need for costly infrastructure, recurring expenses, and intensive labour.

Nanobubble Technology
Prasinos Tech also offers an advanced nanobubble technology that works in synergy with its lake-cleaning system. This solution enhances water quality by delivering ultra-efficient oxygenation through billions of nanoscopic gas bubbles—each smaller than a red blood cell and nearly invisible to the naked eye. These nanobubbles remain suspended in water for long durations, allowing deep oxygen penetration and sustained interaction with contaminants.
As an advanced form of aeration, nanobubbles play a crucial role in reviving polluted water bodies. By increasing dissolved oxygen levels uniformly across all depths, they create a more habitable environment for aquatic life, support beneficial microbial activity, and suppress anaerobic conditions that lead to foul odours and toxic buildup. This helps in naturally breaking down organic matter, reducing sludge accumulation, and controlling harmful algal blooms.
In sewage treatment plants, nanobubbles reduce chemical dependency while improving nutrient removal, particularly nitrogen and phosphorus. With potential applications in aquaculture, agriculture, and ecosystem restoration, this technology offers a scalable, chemical-free approach to restoring and maintaining healthy water systems.
