Ujjivan Small Finance Bank (Ujjivan SFB) has announced a new partnership with Water.org, a global non-profit organization. This collaboration aims to provide affordable financial solutions to the masses, enhancing access to safe water and sanitation in India, which has the world’s largest population.

Under this partnership, Water.org will play a crucial role in helping Ujjivan SFB identify areas in need of financing for clean water and hygienic sanitation. Water.org’s contribution will encompass technical assistance, market assessments, the development of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials, and support in monitoring and evaluation.

To further this cause, Ujjivan SFB is set to offer loans ranging from ₹6,000 to ₹1,00,000 to both existing and new customers. These loans are designed to facilitate the construction and renovation of water and sanitation facilities.

Highlighting its commitment to this initiative, Ujjivan SFB disbursed over 5,000 Water and Sanitation (WATSAN) loans, amounting to ₹30 crore last year. These loans have been instrumental in helping customers construct necessary sanitation facilities, aligning with the Indian government’s Swachh Bharat mission.

With this new partnership, the bank aims to provide safe drinking water and hygienic sanitation facilities to 65,000 households by offering affordable loans over the next three years.

The WATSAN loan, introduced under the Group Loan category, aims to tackle the challenges of safe drinking water, proper sanitation, and a hygienic environment through low-cost infrastructure development for customers.
